SFC and Angling Clubs Agree to Landmark Deal
Confirmed $2,000,000 prize purse, 14-team field in 2025 with expansion to 16 in 2026.
(Dallas, TX, March 11, 2025) – Sport Fishing Championship (SFC) and its 11 Angling Club owners have agreed to terms for the 2025 season and beyond, setting the course for the first professional offshore fishing league’s season and expansion plans.
14 Angling Clubs representing different regions will compete in SFC’s first season under the new professional format, fighting for $2 million in prize money. Expansion to 16 Angling Clubs in 2026 has been approved with a roadmap charted to a 27-club league in the future.
“This is a truly historic agreement for SFC and its Angling Club owners,” said Mark Neifeld, CEO and Commissioner of SFC. “It marks a seismic shift in competitive fishing, elevating the sport in a way never seen before, beyond the $2 million in prize money.”
Effective immediately, this agreement kicks off free agency, with major roster announcements coming until the commencement of the season.

The ownership group behind these clubs feature some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment, including: No. 1 golfer and Olympic gold medalist Scottie Scheffler, NFL legend Randy Moss, 5X Pro Bowl selection and New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara, inaugural LIV Golf Singles Champion Talor Gooch, NFL RB Raheem Mostert and Grammy-nominated country artist Brian Kelley. Additional team owners are set to be announced as angling clubs are revealed.
