INSIDER: Potential Landing 2026 Spots for Rising Sons

With their departure from Mississippi Blues, which Angling Clubs could potentially sign Rising Son's?

Potential Landing Spots For Rising Son’s in 2026 SFC Season

“Our phones have been blowing up in [the past] few hours,” said Jaselyn & Toby Berthelot of Rising Son’s, since the news broke last night of their mutual departure from Mississippi Blues Angling Club. They and Blues’ President Preston Lyon agreed to go their separate ways for the 2026 season, sending a ripple effect through the off-season Roster Moves across the Gulf Division.

SFC Insider has even received calls from Atlantic Division Angling Clubs asking for the details, curious to learn if one of the most popular personalities of the 2025 season will be competing once again this year.

One potential landing point could be West Florida Black Flags Angling Club, which we reported earlier today is entertaining several proposals from teams. Another landing point could be Louisiana Canyons Angling Club.

Per Canyons President and GM Bobby Holderman, there is an interest in their club to potentially welcome another operator for 2026. The Canyons competed in 2025 with Just Lookin’, a 92’ Viking double enclosed bridge. The boat is owned by Canyons co-owner Gus Rantz, skippered by Capt. “Stonewall” Hall Bohlinger, with Holderman serving as one of the mates. There is an internal discussion within the club, with them potentially considering competing in a limited number of tournaments this year, and bringing on a full-time operator to handle SFC competition.

Should that be the route Just Lookin’ chooses to go, that would potentially open the door for a team like Rising Son’s to negotiate for a chance to compete in SFC once again.

It would be a popular move, given Rising Son’s deep ties to Louisiana. The boat is registered in Addis, Louisiana, and Jaselyn Berthelot is a proud LSU alumna. SFC has consistently touted her as one of the most decorated Tiger alumnae of the last decade, including gymnast Livvy Dunne and WNBA player Angel Reese.

Jaselyn was named the 2025 Female Angler of the Year and  earned Moment of the Year at the first-annual SFC AWARDS.
