BREAKING: Mississippi Blues and Rising Son's Mutually Part Ways
Including who the Blues may be considering for 2026, and where Rising Son's may end up.
The Mississippi Blues Angling Club announced that it has mutually agreed to part ways with its 2025 professional operating team, Rising Son’s Sportfishing, marking the end of a highly impactful inaugural season under SFC’s angling club model.
The partnership delivered immediate success. During the 2025 campaign, The Mississippi Blues claimed victory at the East Pass Challenge, presented by Legendary Marine, which was the opening tournament of the Gulf Division season. That win set the tone for a strong year and firmly established the Blues as early contenders within the division. Mid-Season struggles, paired with the dominance of Third Coast Renegades AC, and a late-season surge by the Texas Lone Stars resulted in the Blues on the outside looking in for the Zane Grey Championship Playoffs. The tournament and league title, ultimately won by the surging Lone Stars.
Beyond team success, the season was highlighted by individual accolades. Jaselyn Berthelot earned SFC Female Angler of the Year honors, as well as Moment of the Year, underscoring her performance and influence during the season.
In an official statement, Mississippi Blues Angling Club President and General Manager Preston Lyon emphasized the mutual respect between the organizations:

Jaselyn and Toby played an important role in our 2025 season, winning the first Gulf Division event of the year. Jaselyn earning SFC Awards for Female Angler of the Year and Moment of the Year stands as a testament to her talent, dedication, and impact on the sport. We are proud to have shared in those accomplishments. On behalf of the Mississippi Blues Angling Club, I want to sincerely thank Jaselyn, Toby, and the entire Rising Son’s team for their professionalism and friendship. We wish them continued success in all future endeavors and look forward to crossing paths again within the sport we all care so deeply about.”
Jaselyn Berthelot, 2025 SFC Angler of The Year and President of Rising Son’s echoed those sentiments in a statement reflecting on their role during a pivotal season for SFC:
Rising Son's Statement
“At Rising Son’s Sportfishing, we were honored to represent the Mississippi Blues Angling Club during the 2025 season, which marked the inaugural year of SFC’s angling club model of competition. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to compete for the Blues and for the trust placed in our team throughout the season. We are proud to have fulfilled our contractual obligations and to have represented the club with commitment, professionalism, and maximum effort every time we were on the water. We are excited for what the future holds, not only for Rising Son’s, but also for SFC and the continued growth of its Gulf Division in 2026 and beyond. We wish the Mississippi Blues Angling Club continued success.”
With the separation finalized, attention now turns to potential replacements. League sources indicate the Blues are rumored to be in discussions with Home Made, the team led by boat owner and angler Adam Davidson, alongside Captain Adam McGugin. The pairing is no stranger to success. Home Made won the 2025 SFC Gulfport Mississippi Open, representing the Third Coast Renegades Angling Club.
As for Rising Son’s, this move does not necessarily mean their history of competing in SFC since its 2022 inaugural season will come to an end. Stay tuned for more details, as there appear to be a couple of Gulf Angling Clubs in talks with them.
