Breaking: Louisiana Canyons AC Sign Rising Sons To Compete in 2026
A fan-favorite from the Bayou State returns home to represent Louisiana Canyons AC.
Only a few days after the bombshell announcement that Mississippi Blues Angling Club and Rising Sons, the fishing team led by 2025 SFC Female Angler of the Year Jaselyn Berthelot mutually parted ways, the Louisiana-based operation has already found a new home.
Home in this case, really is home: Louisiana Canyons Angling Club. Rising Sons, known for its LSU ties, with Jaselyn being a relatively recent Tiger alumna, now represent their home state, with the fleur des lis logo emblazoned on their jerseys. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
The news of the new Canyons’ roster adds clarity to the future of the 2025 team that represented Louisiana. It confirms that Just Lookin’, the 92’ Viking double enclosed bridge owned by Canyons AC co-owner Gus Rantz will see a reduced competition schedule for this upcoming Gulf season.
Rantz and Club president/GM Bobby Holderman issued a joint statement on the signing:
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Jaselyn Berthelot and the Rising Sons Sportfishing team into the Louisiana Canyons family. Jaselyn’s accomplishments, leadership, and passion for the sport embody exactly what we want our club to represent. This signing reflects our commitment to excellence, growth, and building something special for the future of Louisiana Canyons within SFC. It also means we can double our efforts to build community for the club by competing in other tournaments while the Canyons are handling business in SFC competition.”
Gus Rantz
Co-owner, Louisiana Canyons AC
“Jaselyn is not only one of the most accomplished anglers in SFC, but also a true ambassador for the sport. Bringing Rising Sons on-board gives Louisiana Canyons a team that competes at the highest level while also representing our values of professionalism, inclusivity, and community. We believe this partnership positions our club for long-term success both on and off the water.”
Bobby Holderman
President & GM, Louisiana Canyons AC
Rantz, Captain “Stonewall” Hall Bohlinger and Holderman are still Just Lookin’ to fish (see what I did there) in 2026, but their calendar will be reduced without six Gulf Division events to compete in.
The shift also marks a new chapter for Rising Sons, with additional roster moves coming. Toby Berthelot is expected to take the helm after parting ways with Capt. Jimmy “Cricket” Crochet at the conclusion of the 2025 season. A decision is also expected whether Holderman will join Jaselyn and Toby on the Rising Sons boat this season for SFC events, a move that would solidify their permanent 3-man roster required to attend and compete at every tournament. If Holderman chooses to roll with Rising Sons, the schedule may conflict with his duties on Just Lookin’.
Rising Sons also released a statement now that the news is official:
“We are incredibly honored and excited for Rising Sons to represent Louisiana Canyons Angling Club. This multi-year opportunity means a great deal to our entire team to represent our home state of Louisiana. I want to sincerely thank Gus Rantz, Bobby Holderman, and the Canyons organization for believing in what Rising Sons stands for. Their support, trust, and passion for the SFC align perfectly with our values as competitors and ambassadors for the sport.
Winning Female Angler of the Year at SFC AWARDS was an unforgettable milestone, but this next chapter is about continuing to raise the bar; on the water, within the Gulf Division, and for the next generation of anglers. We’re proud to join the Louisiana Canyons family and are ready to work, compete, and represent the club with pride that runs deep."
Jaselyn Berthelot
President, Rising Sons Sportfishing
