RUMORS: West Florida Black Flags AC Potential Roster Moves
The West Florida Black Flags look to be speaking with multiple parties, including their 2025 squad to raise the colors this season.
SFC Insider is learning that West Florida Black Flags Angling Club is speaking with multiple fishing teams from the Gulf to represent them for 2026, including their 2025 squad Miss Maysen, represented by Captain Danny Watts and Angler Marty Wilson. We’re laying out all of the players here and will continue to report new details as they materialize.
Leading Candidates to Sign for 2026
Miss Maysen: Longtime supporters of SFC, Capt. Danny Watts and Marty Wilson remain highly respected within the organization. Despite their experience and dedication, the 2025 season presented challenges outside of their control, lacking sonar, and suffering from mechanical issues over the course of the season placed them at a clear competitive disadvantage. They still earned All-Star honors from the fans for their competitive spirit and personality, always being an entertaining watch whenever the cameras were live.
Black Flags AC President Warren Fisher has spoken very highly of Miss Maysen, emphasizing their dedication to the Black Flags brand. The door remains open for their return, contingent upon securing a new boat capable of competing at the highest level. With the right platform beneath them, Watts and Wilson are widely viewed as a team that could immediately contend.
Quantified: Two-time SFC Champion Captain Justin Drummond enters the conversation for a potential return in 2026. Drummond has indicated that he has access to a boat owner willing to support a full SFC circuit run. While details remain to be finalized, the opportunity is real; pending agreement on terms.
Given his success winning the season crown in the first two years of SFC competition (albeit under a different model) signing Drummond could elevate the Black Flags to one of the early Gulf Division favorites in 2026. Back in October, Drummond was part of the Magic Touch, the team which won the prestigious Bisbee’s Black & Blue tournament in Cabo San Lucas, which occurred only a few days after SFC’s Zane Grey Championship Playoffs.
Southern Charm / All-In: One of the largest bombshells of the Gulf off-season came with the announcement that first, Southern Charm/All-In would not represent Third Coast Renegades Angling Club in 2026, replaced by Magnifco, run by Renegades’ co-owner Garrett Frazier. Then Captain Landon Bell, 2025 SFC Captain of The Year along with mates Connor McLeod and Zack Redman were departing Southern Charm/All-In for another boat in the Gulf. The trio announced they were headed to Metal Masher, a 72’ Viking also based in Orange Beach, Alabama.
This leaves Gregg Trenor, 2025 SFC Angler of The Year and Ron Davis at a crossroads, looking for a new captain and crew to run their 62’ Viking. Early reports indicate that Trenor and Davis have expressed interest in rebuilding with a new crew and returning to compete in the Gulf this year. If they do so, expect them to receive a few calls from SFC Angling Clubs still yet to sign a roster. That could mean Mississippi Blues as well.
Rising Son’s: With the recent announcement of Mississippi Blues Angling Club and Rising Son’s mutually parting ways, could West Florida be a landing spot for 2025 SFC Female Angler of The Year Jaselyn Berthelot and company?
What Will Make the Difference? According to Fisher, the deciding factor may be simple: who comes to the table first.
New Black Flags Leadership
In some additional housekeeping news, West Florida Black Flags have announced that Robert Fisher, Warren’s father, will step into the role of General Manager for both the West Florida Black Flags and the North Carolina Flare Angling Clubs.
With experienced oversight and strong organizational alignment, the Black Flags are positioning themselves not just for 2026, but for long-term success within the Sport Fishing Championship.
Looking Ahead
Roster decisions are never simple, especially when multiple proven anglers and teams are on the board. What is clear, however, is that the West Florida Black Flags are approaching 2026 with intention, strategy, and leverage. Their next move could seemingly come from any direction, and it may come sooner than expected.
Stay tuned for more announcements and developments regarding all the Roster Moves coming before the 2026 season kicks off.
