Third Coast Renegades Angling Club
Representing the Texas coast from Port Arthur at the Louisiana State line to the Houston/Galveston area, the “Third Coast” name has been used to describe the Gulf Coast of the United States. Third Coast also refers to Houston’s history as a major film set location for movies over the years, behind Los Angeles and New York. The Renegades moniker pays tribute to the elite horsemen and sharpshooters who refused to commit treason during the US Civil War and marched eastward to New Orleans, forming the First Texas Union Cavalry. The orange color represents the dirt and the hides of the steers that are synonymous with the state, while black symbolizes the cover of night utilized both by the original Renegades for safe passage, and present-day sport fishermen on their hundred-plus mile journeys chasing billfish.
