Meet The Crew: East Coast Remix Angling Club

Get the inside scoop on the stars of SFC's new era

With the official launch of the 14 new professional angling clubs competing in SFCs new format, get to know the names, logos and faces behind the new era of competitive offshore fishing. Kicking off the series is East Coast Remix Angling Club of the Atlantic Division.

Behind the Remix name
Taking its name from the South Florida sailfish dynasty “Remix Sportfishing,” led by captain and angler power couple JC and Sarah Cleare, the origin of the “Remix” name is the definition of the phrase: “Love finds a way.” Primarily known for fishing center console boats in the sailfish tournament scene, JC and Sarah first met competing on a sportfish boat for a private owner. When faced with the choice between fishing with Sarah or continuing to run the sportfish, JC bet on their love and the rest is history. The process of acquiring their own boat and forming a new team together being the literal “Remix” that changed everything.

“At that time I was leaving a six-figure salary as a captain to start my own charters and a (kid’s) camp,” said Captain JC Cleare. “I had a lot of people tell me it wasn’t going to work, asking me how I was going to buy a boat and drop everything to do what you feel like doing, they called me crazy. Guess I wasn’t that crazy.”

Since making that “crazy” move, JC, Sarah have been collecting tournament championship checks, social media followers and play DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win,” on repeat.

Behind Angling Club Logo & Colors
The Remix logo is flanked by two harpoons, which is a throwback to the original Remix Sportfishing logo that featured one across the bottom of the typeface. The black and pink colors that have been synonymous with the team since its inception. In the center of the logo, four diver knives combine to make a propeller, symbolizing the different skills each member brings to form a seamless unit.

“Everyone on the team has fished together for a long time and I think that’s key to some of our success, said Jorge Corzo, mate and angler for East Coast Remix AC. “Everyone’s always on the same page, we know what we’re supposed to do. We know what the captain’s doing before he does it.”

The Front Office
East Coast Remix Angling Club co-owners Raheem Mostert and Kenny Hernandez joined forces in November 2024 to bring this team to SFC. Hernandez has competed alongside Remix in multiple sailfish tournaments, including a recent victory where they took home more than $400,000 in earnings.

For Mostert, running back for the Oakland Raiders, his first sailfish release as a competitor in SFC’s The Catch, Powered by Verizon left him hooked.

“Growing up in New Smyrna Beach, fishing was the first sport I played,” Mostert said. “Being a part of The Catch, I was compelled to continue that journey and was able to get part ownership of a team. This is something I’ve wanted to do for quite some time.”

With 2025 being the inaugural season of the professional angling club era, and a slate of club owners including world No. 1 Golfer and Olympic Gold Medalist Scottie Scheffler, NFL Legend Randy Moss, New Orleans Saints 5X Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara, Grammy Award-nominated country star Brian Kelley, the time was right.

“I know we have the best team in the sport, so I’m excited to see what we do this year,” Mostert said. “These guys are going to hold it down and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
