TEAM QUANTIFIED WINS AGAIN FOR SFC AT THE EMERALD COAST BLUE MARLIN CLASSIC

Dallas, Texas – Sport Fishing Championship (SFC), the governing body of saltwater tournament fishing, announced the results for the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic. Team Quantified won the competition which was held at Baytowne Marina in Sandestin, Florida. Capt. Justin Drummond and Team Quantified took the win with 13 billfish releases: 11 sailfish and 2 blue marlin. Their second win in a row, Team Quantified now leads the SFC leaderboard with 10,000 points.

“My crew was pretty much flawless this weekend,” said Drummond. “I can’t say enough about them. The amount of time and effort that they put in, despite sleepless nights, rough weather, thunderstorms, and waves, they were absolute gangsters in that cockpit and are unmatched by anybody else on the circuit. Together we just dug in harder and got the results.”

In total, 41 billfish were caught and released during the Sandestin tournament this year, with 22 Blue Marlin, five White Marlin and 14 Sailfish released. Not able to keep the SFC lead, Team All In released one blue marlin dropping them to 2nd place with 8500. Team Rebecca has also been a team that has put up a lot of billfish this season. They finished in 6th with 7 billfish releases and are in third place overall with 8000 SFC Points. This team will be one to watch as they battle it out with Team Quantified at the Texas International Fishing Tournament. Both teams will be competing in their backyard. The Gulf of Mexico produces heavy fish and that was on display this weekend. Team Rising Son's Lady Angler Jaselyn Berthelot caught a Wahoo that weighed 52.2lbs, which is a new Championship Fish Leader.

SFC tournament points accrue based on a team’s placement in the final tournament standings, with the first-place team earning 3,500 points, the second-place team 3,000 points, and so forth. Placements in the tournament standings are determined from tournament-only points based on species of fish caught and released, with the highest consideration given to blue marlin, then white marlin and spearfish, and finally sailfish and swordfish.

Next week, the season’s next tournament will begin on Thursday, July 6, in Cape May, New Jersey for the South Jersey Yacht Sales Offshore Showdown.

The season’s events thereafter include: the Oak Bluffs Bluewater Classic in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, July 12-15; the Tri-State Canyon Shootout in Block Island, Rhode Island, July 24-27; the Texas International Fishing Tournament in South Padre Island, Texas, August 4-6; and conclude with the San Juan International Billfish Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico, August 23-25.
