SFC Welcomes The Nature Conservancy as Community Champion
The Nature Conservancy will be featured as SFC’s third community champion, joining Coast Guard Foundation and Billfish Conservation Project
DALLAS, TX, (May 4, 2026): Sport Fishing Championship (SFC) today announced that The Nature Conservancy, a leading global conservation organization, has joined as a “Community Champion.” The Nature Conservancy joins the Coast Guard Foundation and Billfish Conservation Project as one of the primary nonprofit organizations featured across the league’s enterprise-wide initiatives.
Through this collaboration, The Nature Conservancy will be highlighted throughout SFC programming, digital platforms, and fan engagement efforts, further amplifying the importance of marine conservation and sustainable fisheries on a global scale.
“SFC is proud to welcome The Nature Conservancy as a Community Champion,” said Mark Neifeld, Commissioner & CEO of Sport Fishing Championship. “Their global leadership in protecting our oceans, fisheries, and coastal ecosystems aligns directly with our mission to promote sustainable sportfishing and responsible stewardship of marine resources. Together, we have an opportunity to educate, engage, and inspire our audience to support conservation efforts that ensure the future of our sport and our planet.”
Founded in 1951 through grassroots action in the United States, The Nature Conservancy has grown into one of the most impactful environmental organizations in the world. With more than one million members and over one thousand scientists, The Nature Conservancy advances conservation efforts across 83 countries and territories, and has conserved over 960 million hectares of ocean and more than 125 million acres of land.
SFC’s Community Champions program was launched in 2022 and is the league’s charitable arm supporting organizations making an impact in coastal fishing communities across North America, the Caribbean and Central America. As part of the partnership, SFC will integrate TNC’s mission into its storytelling and outreach, connecting anglers, fans, and stakeholders with meaningful conservation initiatives.
"The Nature Conservancy is thrilled to partner with Sport Fishing Championship to raise awareness around the importance of ensuring the health of our marine and coastal habitats, supporting sustainable fisheries, and working with regional and federal partners to improve resilience,” said Dr. Lizzie McLeod, Global Ocean Director for The Nature Conservancy. “By engaging SFC’s passionate community, we can help drive greater understanding and action to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends.”
The Nature Conservancy’s mission is rooted in creating a world where people and nature can thrive. Through science-driven solutions, global partnerships, and community engagement, TNC continues to lead efforts to address changing environmental conditions, protect biodiversity, and sustain vital ecosystems.
This collaboration underscores SFC’s ongoing commitment to aligning with organizations that drive meaningful impact, reinforcing its leadership role at the intersection of sportfishing, conservation, and community engagement.
