Dalvin Cook Has All the Fun [Fish] and South Carolina Outcast Rally Late to Win “The Catch”

What went down offshore during SFC's fourth annual The Catch Pro-Am, featuring NFL Legends, Superstars and other celebrities for the first time.

SFC’s fourth-annual The Catch Pro-Am, presented by Moët Hennessy, delivered a full day of high-energy action as the league’s 13 professional angling clubs paired with celebrity anglers in Key West, Florida.

A draft was held at the pre-tournament party, pairing the clubs with their celebrity anglers before they hit the water first thing in the morning the next day.

Renegades Strike First

The day got underway at 8:45 AM, only 45 minutes after the shotgun start when the Third Coast Renegades opened the scoring with a sailfish release from Super Bowl Champion Offensive Lineman Marshall Newhouse.

By the end of the 9 AM hour, the leaderboard tightened quickly. The Mississippi Blues and South Carolina Outcast surged to the top with two sailfish releases each, fueled by multiple. The Renegades stayed in the mix thanks to a tuna catch, while teams clubs like the Gulf Coast Cowboys and Lights Out Boston joined the fray.

Tyler Hubbard reunited with his Florida-Georgia Line comrade Brian Kelley, fishing alongside Kelley’s Gulf Coast Cowboys and hooking up with a sailfish nobody will soon forget.

East Coast Remix Takes Control

The biggest run of the morning came from the East Coast Remix, who exploded between 10:23 and 10:43 AM with four sailfish releases. That flurry vaulted them into the lead.

Despite the surge, several boats stayed within striking distance. The Renegades, Lights Out Boston, and South Carolina Outcast all continued to chip away.

The 11 AM hour saw a major shake-up as the Third Coast Renegades mounted a strong comeback. Back-to-back sailfish releases pushing them to within one fish of East Coast Remix.

At the same time, Lights Out Boston and South Carolina Outcast each climbed to 225 points, creating a tightly packed top four heading into midday.

Midday Lull

The early afternoon hours saw a brief slowdown, with only minor additions to the scoreboard. The New Jersey Sea Birds added a tuna to get on the board, but East Coast Remix maintained their lead.

Renegades Take the Lead

Action reignited after 1 PM as the Renegades surged again. The meatfish points by adding a couple tunas and a sailfish gave Newhouse and club co-owner Garrett Frazier the lead.

Meanwhile, South Carolina Outcast kept pace behind the relentless performance of James Markovits, an experienced fisherman with his own TV show, who brought his team within striking distance with several sailfish releases. The South Florida Sails also made a late appearance, with a memorable triple hookup headlined by club co-owner and NBA All-Star Ben Simmons and Super Bowl Champion Leonard Williams.

Outcast Seals the overall Victory

The decisive moment came at 2:35 PM, with South Carolina Outcast releasing their sixth sailfish of the day. That late surge proved insurmountable, as no other team could answer in the closing minutes.

Dalvin Cook Cleaned up In The Grocery Aisle

Paired with the Mississippi Blues, running back Dalvin Cook swept the major meatfish categories, which is added for The Catch to add some fun and encourage everyone to get in on the action. Cook, a multi-year veteran of the event, weighed a 29-pound blackfin tuna, 15-pound. Mahi-mahi, and a 10-pound wahoo to win each of those fun fish categories.
