Welcome back to the heartbeat of SFC, Hurricane Hole Resort & Marina in Grand Isle, Louisiana. For all the details of the tournament, visit the event page on our schedule. Quick reminders: 8:00 AM shotgun start, no boundary, no lines-in or out each day. On Championship Sunday, the boats have to be under the Grand Isle Bridge by 6:00 PM.

DAY 1: FRIDAY, AUGUST 28
*ALL TIMES CENTRAL (CT)

3:00 AM: OUR LAST BOAT HAS ARRIVED. The “Easy Trigger” a 64’ Viking chartered by Louisiana Canyons has made the trip from Panama City Beach, to Orange Beach to Grand Isle.

8:00 AM: We have liftoff! By land, sea and air. The boats shoot out from under the Grand Isle Bridge, onlookers wave goodbye from the beach, and SFC Insider got to play human drone in a helicopter. 

11:55 AM: WE HAVE OUR FIRST BLUE MARLIN OF THE TOURNAMENT! It’s also the first fish of the tournament, going to Garrett Frazier and the Third Coast Renegades. That’s the best way to start.

2:14 PM: THERE GOES THAT MAN AGAIN. Garrett Frazier is well-rested after a long travel day yesterday to Grand Isle. It looked like Drake Beasley was the mate with the assist.

3:47 PM: BIRTHDAY BLUE NUMBER ONE FOR BK! Brian Kelley releases a blue for his Gulf Coast Cowboys to slide into second place. 

3:49 PM: Lone Stars are hooked up! But it’s a mahi. Not worth any points and the team resets the spread to make another pass.

3:57 PM: JASELYN’S ON A FISH. Robbie Floyd and Peter Miller are talking with our current leaders; Garrett Frazier and the Third Coast Renegades who have released two blue marlin so far today. Meanwhile, the Louisiana Canyons are hooked up.

4:02 PM: Jaselyn’s fish was a shark. Canyons reset and will look for more fish.

5:09 PM: THOSE RENEGADES ARE ROLLING. Garrett gets Blue Marlin number three to start day one, with a few hours of daylight still to go.

5:18 PM: TEXAS LONE STARS ARE IN IT! David Blackbird releases a blue marlin to get the Lone Stars into third to start day one. That’s a big fish for the defending champs in the playoff race.

7:17 PM: WE HAVE TWO BLUES AT THE SAME TIME? It’s not the South Carolina Outcast double blue, but two clubs have released a pair of blue marlin in the same minute.

7:17 PM: GULF COAST COWBOYS RELEASE ONE. It’s Jordon Benefield’s first of the tournament to get the Cowboys to 900 and in firm grasp of second place.

7:17 PM: THE LEADERS HAVE THE OTHER BLUE MARLIN. Are the Renegades running away with it? Garett Frazier already has four. The SFC record in a single tournament is seven, set last year by Gregg Trenor and the previous Third Coast Renegades roster. Day one isn’t even over yet…

8:46 PM: GARRETT HAS ANOTHER BLUE! That’s five for the Renegades today, and likely the last one. It was a 90 minute fight at golden hour, and the Gulf Division leaders have an absolutely commanding lead.

The current SFC record for most blue marlin released in a single tournament is seven, set by Gregg Trenor and the 2025 Third Coast Renegades AC squad. After one day, Garrett Frazier is on track to shatter that mark.
