SFC kicks off the summer of USA’s semiquincentennial with three days of live broadcast and a concert, honoring the troops, from the flight deck of the USS Yorktown, based at Patriot’s Point Naval & Maritime Museum
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18, 2026 (CHARLESTON, SC): Officials from Sport Fishing Championship (SFC) and Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum announced the launch of the “SFC Carrier Cup presented by HUK,” May 29-31, live from the flight deck of the USS Yorktown in celebration of the United States’ 250th Anniversary, a three-day broadcast, public fan festival and private concert dedicated to showcasing the country’s military history while honoring active and retired servicemen and women.
“When SFC rolls into Charleston, South Carolina, for Week three of the Atlantic Division season, our league will dedicate three-days of broadcast, community events and entertainment to celebrate this community’s rich military history, and honor America’s 250th Anniversary,” said Mark Neifeld, Commissioner & CEO of SFC. “We are honored to partner with Patriots Point and Charleston community leaders to shine a spotlight on America’s heroes and kick off a summer of semiquincentennial celebrations.”
“We’re honored to welcome Sport Fishing Championship, offshore fishing competitors from around the world, and an international television audience to Patriots Point for this special three-day event,” said Allison Hunt, Executive Director of Patriots Point. “Moments like these allow us to shine a light on the Lowcountry’s proud military community while sharing our mission to inspire visitors of all ages through America’s enduring traditions of service, leadership, and duty. We’re grateful for partners like SFC who help celebrate our museum and its stories in such a unique and meaningful way through events like the Carrier Cup.”
The SFC Carrier Cup presented by HUK will include three-days of offshore fishing tournament broadcasts originating live from the flight deck of USS Yorktown, open to the public, with fan festival activities included in the price of museum admission. Active and retired military service men and women from all branches are invited to Patriot’s Point to take part in the festivities, with complimentary museum admission being donated by SFC and HUK on Friday, May 29, to 500 active and retired servicemen and women.
“It is our privilege to present the SFC Carrier Cup and begin a summer of celebrating the 250th anniversary of our country’s founding in such an iconic, historic location,” said Bryan Johnston, CEO & President of HUK. “Charleston is where HUK was founded, and it remains the heartbeat of our brand today. To see an event of this magnitude kick off here, and alongside our partners at SFC and Patriots Point, makes this moment especially meaningful for our team. For more than a decade, HUK Performance Fishing has proudly supported America’s military men and women, and our 160+ employees and stakeholders are honored to be part of an experience that will create lasting memories for everyone involved.”
The USS Yorktown (CV-10) was the tenth aircraft carrier to serve in the United States Navy. Built in Newport News, Virginia, the carrier was commissioned on April 15, 1943. World War II’s famous “Fighting Lady” would participate significantly in the Pacific offensive that began in late 1943 and ended with the defeat of Japan in 1945. The USS Yorktown received the Presidential Unit Citation and earned 11 battle stars for service in World War II.
SFC’s live broadcast set will be built on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown, providing live real-time coverage of the league’s seven Atlantic Division professional Angling Clubs as they compete. East Coast Remix AC, led by Captain JC Cleare, will return to defend their 2025 regular season victory in Charleston last June. Live broadcasts of the 2026 SFC Carrier Cup presented by HUK will be available on YouTube from 1-2pm EST, and on the ESPN App, Disney+ and Hulu from 2-4pm EST, each day. Real-time coverage of the event will also be available at www.sportfishingchampionship.com and on SFC’s official Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok accounts.
